OUR SERVICES

At Forage Farms we pride ourselves with perfection!

We baled our own hay for 10 years to learn through the trials and tribulations of this business before offering services to others. We are not perfect because we have to work with Mother Nature and equipment that breaks from time to time but we now know how to do it right. We run newer hay equipment to keep our breakdowns to a minimum plus we have multiple units in case something does go down.

CUSTOM ROUND BALING

We offer custom baling with our new state of the art baling equipment. The equipment is adjusted just right for tight bales right out of the cab. We can see density and moisture on the monitor and adjust as needed depending on condition.
We try our hardest to bale at just the right time for premium green hay (weather permitting). We have moisture testers to ensure we don’t bale to wet. We also have the ability to roll silage bales for those that need silage.

Round baling rates:
$35 a bale for cutting, raking, baling 4x5 bales
$40 a bale for cutting, raking, baling 4x6 bales

SOIL PREPARATION SERVICES

We offer Sprig planting services from January through May. We can prep the fields with an offset disc or chisel plow, then finish it off with a finish disc, harrow and drag. The sooner we can
get started the better as it takes time to prep a field for planting as the offset and chisel will make big clauds that need rain to melt them down. To do it right soil samples need to be taken in advance and we need to disc in fertilizer as part of the finish discing process so the plants have the nutrients they need at the
depth they are planted. We prefer to finish disc twice and drag twice to smooth the field before planting.

Soil Prep Rates:
$10 per pass to Harrow
$10 per pass to Drag with iron leveler
$30 per pass to finish Disc
$40 per pass to Chisel Plow
$40 per pass to Offset Disc

CUSTOM SQUARE BALING

We offer custom square baling with our 3 new holland BC5070 hay liners and a backup NH 570. We rake with a Vermeer R2300 to ensure the least amount of dust possible in the hay. We bale 50lb 2 string bales at about 35 inches long. We have a bale baron to pickup the individual bales and pack them into a tight 21 bale bundle pack that makes it very easy to load and unload the bales with equipment.

Square Baling Rates:
$1.00 a bale for cutting
$1.00 a bale for raking
$1.50 a bale for Bundling
$1.50 a bale for Baling

We give a $0.50 cent break if you let us do
it all at $4.50 a bale for cutting, raking,
baling and bundling.

SPRIG PLANTING SERVICES

We plant sprigs from about February through May. We have one 4 row Bermuda king sprig planter. Our machine puts out 32
bushels an acre. We can offer coastal, Jiggs, and Tifton 85. The Tifton 85 is definitely the hardest Bermuda to get started so have patience if you choose that sprig. In my experience you can be 75%
covered in the first year with Coastal and Jiggs but Tifton takes about two years to cover and that doesn’t include dry years. I
have seen it cover in one year but it doesn’t
happen very often.

Sprig Planting Rates:
$80 an acre to plant plus cost of sprigs and trucking.
Sprigs run about $3 a bushel and trucking runs about $3 a mile.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

"Great communication, great people, and great hay!"
